About the project: "Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting simultaneously, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of the opening night, the Bottom brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to themself, and all that jazz." Additional info: The creative team seeks a diverse company of actors. Actors of all ethnicities will be equally considered for all roles and actors of color are encouraged to audition. Directors will actively explore diversity and inclusion in their casting choices – from race/ethnicity to gender expression and body type, they welcome everyone to audition for this most exciting musical. Looking for strong singers and dancers, specifically tappers. WHAT TO PREPARE: - Prepare 16-32 bars of a song from the show or in the style of the show. - Bring sheet music clearly marked. - Everyone will be asked to sing. - Prepare to learn a short dance combination and tap shoes are encouraged. Please note, that not everyone will be asked to dance. Callbacks TBD. Rehearsals will begin at the end of March. Rehearsals will typically be held 3-4 times per week including Sundays. You will be asked to list all conflict dates on your audition form. Not everyone will be called to all rehearsals.
