Musical Audition for Production of "Nunsense"

Russell, ON, Canada
ID: 256698Exp: 3/7/2024
Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Directors are currently in need of performers for "Nunsense" play. Please, see the details below. About the project: "Nunsense" is a hilarious musical spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser. Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia Child of God. Thus, the remaining nuns – ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert – stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed. With catchy songs and irreverent comedy, Nunsense is sure to keep audiences rolling with laughter. Additional information: Please arrive warmed up and ready to audition at your specified date and time. You will be asked to sing a part of your song first (approx 32 bars) and a scale to determine your vocal range. Please bring your own backing track (karaoke style). Should you choose to sing a song from the show, directors have the track that you will need and they will provide a Bluetooth speaker to connect to. After your song, you will be asked to do a reading or two. You will not be asked to do a dance but you will be asked about any dance background you might have. There is no expectation that you already know how to tap dance. If cast, you will be taught a tap number and directors would ask that you provide your own tap shoes. If auditioning for Sister Leo, you may be asked to do a short ballet combination and if you have pointe shoes, please wear them for the audition. While all characters are female-presenting nuns, directors invite all genders and all ethnicities to audition. Male-presenting individuals who are cast will be asked to be clean-shaven. For more details regarding this opportunity, please see the attachments. When applying, please indicate whether you would like to audition on March 7th or March 8th. The Director will provide an audition time and answer any of your questions.
