About the project: A single mother, Julia Finn, preps for her first time hosting her book club. She tells her only son, Buster, that she has to make an impression on her “classy” club-mate, Linda. Regardless, the club is interrupted by semi-erotic noises emanating from Buster’s room. The ladies get uncomfortable as the noises get worse. The tension peaks when Buster’s friend, Leonard, arrives dressed in a suspiciously skimpy leather outfit and announces the “roleplay” he has planned. Ultimately, when the club members kick down Buster’s door to investigate, they walk in on… an innocent game of Dungeons and Dragons. Rate: Non union. Unpaid. Unfortunately, have an extremely tight budget since they are a student production. Catering is provided. Additional information: SHOOT/PERFORMANCE DATE(S) February 3rd & 4th. An insecure single mother. She dresses to impress and needs this meeting to go well to prove to both Linda and herself that she is classy too. She really doesn’t care too much about the club and cares more about how she is perceived by Linda. She is oblivious to the provocative nature of the noises emanating from Buster’s room, and is more embarrassed by the interruption.
Julia’s only son. He loves tabletop games but doesn’t like opening up to his mom about it. On the heavier side, and has no shame when he’s wrapped up in his projects.
The snob of the neighborhood and a yoga instructor. She’s the type of person to complain to the neighborhood association that the next house over has grass that’s 2.5 inches instead of 2.
A bubbly socialite who has no problem being a little flirty. She finds humor in taking situation the wrong way and in indulging in innuendos. She thinks that Buster and Leonard’s antics are the best thing to happen to this book club. She has an accent derived from the countryside.
A near carbon copy of Buster, but he’s a little more open about his interest. He would go to a pride party, a convention, or even go LARPing on a spare weekend.
