About the project: When William Shakespeare is at the top of a list of famous playwrights, two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom set out to write the world’s first musical in this hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first century Broadway. The Bard. Over the top with a huge ego. 8 musical numbers. Vocal range – Top Ab4- Bottom- Ab2
A struggling writer who cannot stand Shakespeare. Nigel’s older brother. Needs to be comfortable with Stage kissing. 12 musical numbers. Vocal range – Top: G4 – Bottom – A2
Nick’s sweet younger brother. A struggling writer and poet who falls in love with Portia, a Puritan. Needs to be comfortable with Stage kissing. 10 musical numbers. Vocal range – Top: A4 – Bottom – Eb3
Nick’s wife. She loves Nick despite his lack of success. She dresses up like a man to prove she can be an actor. Needs to be comfortable with Stage kissing. 4 musical numbers. Vocal range – Top: D5 – Bottom – D3
A Puritan woman who loves poetry, theater, AND Nigel. Very innocent and naïve. Needs to be comfortable with Stage kissing. 6 musical numbers. Vocal range – Top: F#5 – Bottom – G3
Portia’s father. A Puritan who thinks Nick and Nigel’s plays are sinful. Has a great number in the 2nd act, “We see the Light” which is part of a dream sequence. Has to be over the top and flamboyant. 2 musical numbers. Vocal range – Top: G4 – Bottom – G3
A soothsayer. Another dynamic character who is featured in the large 1st act number, “A Musical” 4 musical numbers. Vocal range – Tenor / Baritone
