"The Odd Couple" Play Needs Cast

Bay City, MI, United States
ID: 253090Exp: 12/11/2023
Description:

Auditions for "The Odd Couple" show. Actors needed. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the breakdown below. About the project: When a divorced sportswriter (and slob) invites his recently separated friend (who happens to be a neat freak) to be his roommate, The Odd Couple is born, and the results are hilarious. Whether you remember the original play, the popular movie, or the endearing sit-com, the laughs are just as fresh today as they were decades ago. The Odd Couple is a classic comedy about friendship and learning to live with irreconcilable differences from the masterful pen of Neil Simon. Additional info: PLEASE NOTE this is an all-adult cast. What to Prepare: There is nothing to prepare as all will be asked to do cold readings from the script. Scripts can be previewed prior to auditions. There is a refundable deposit required. Scripts can only be checked out for ten days and must be returned at auditions. The office is open from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Director's Note: Truly one of the great Neil Simon comedies, THE ODD COUPLE has been delighting actors, actresses, AND patrons for over 55 years. Come to auditions with your best comedy face on and have some fun! Pigeon sisters auditioning, director is looking for your best British accent, not to be confused with a cockney accent. Director is looking forward to seeing you all at auditions. The tentative rehearsal schedule is attached. Production Dates: February 23-25 & March 1-3, 2024. If you are interested, please apply.

8 roles

Oscar MadisonMale40-45 y.o.All ethnicities

A carefree, good-natured, divorced sportswriter who lives alone in a messy eight-room New York apartment. He has his male cronies in for a weekly poker game with refreshments that invite food poisoning. Oscar’s lifestyle is abruptly turned around when he takes in one of the members of the group, Felix Ungar, whose wife has thrown him out. Everything is now antiseptically clean, the food served to the poker players is appetizing, and there is money to pay his former wife, Blanche.

Felix UngerMale40-45 y.o.All ethnicities

A fussy man who knows that he is difficult to live with but cannot—or will not—make any concessions or compromises. His wife, unwilling to continue their marriage, asks him to leave the family despite his suicide threat, and he then moves in with Oscar. Made comical by his exaggerated behavior, Felix is persuaded by the end of the play to live temporarily with the Pigeon sisters, who pity him, but it is probable that they too will find him exasperating.

A NYPD policeman, one of Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies. Always trying to be the boss in the room.

RoyMale25-56 y.o.All ethnicities

One of Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies. Oscar’s accountant. Roy has a dry wit but is less acerbic than Speed.

VinnieMale40-56 y.o.All ethnicities

One of Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies. Vinnie is mild-mannered and henpecked, making him an easy target for Speed’s verbal barbs.
