"The Old Maid and the Thief" Play In Search of Talent
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers for the production of "The Old Maid and the Thief" coming to the stage in June 2024. Please, see the details below. Additional information: Production dates: June 1-2, 2024 (potential touring dates in 24/25 season). Production venue: Vancouver. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Jan 3rd. Please bring two contrasting operatic arias if you are auditioning for a singing role, preferably one in English. If auditioning for the Announcer, please bring a comedic monologue, and you may be asked to perform/improvise with a 1940s Transatlantic, radio announcer accent (accent is a bonus, not mandatory). This will be a co-op production on a profit share basis, with the intent to tour the production throughout the region in 24/25 – further details available at audition. Note, there will be no scenes of intimacy, or implied intimacy in this production. If interested, please apply.

Baritone: The supposed “thief” in the opera, will be queer-coded for this production.
Spoken role: The announcer for the radio station, will be narrating along the action of the story, and doing sound effects with various props. Will also be queer-coded. Preferably male, or male-presenting.
Soprano: The young woman living with the “Old Maid” who runs off with Bob.
