"The Next Amendment" Seeks Talents
In The Next Amendment, George Washington along with bizarre and unlikely characters joyously relate the significance of the Bill of Rights. Characters such as Red, White and Blue Jay, Two-Headed Three-Toed Tree Toad and their friends help to relate the message that America, in spite of its shortcomings, is still a place where individuals of all backgrounds can live in freedom with the hope of greater equality. After misadventures aboard a pirate ship, Red, White and Blue Jay and friends escape and return to America in time to see George Washington inaugurated in New York as President of the United States. They form a theatrical troupe and cruise up and down the eastern seaboard. They stop in every port to perform the Amendment Show in which the Bill of Rights is presented. This energetic, and fun musical celebrates the musical style of American Vaudeville. It is a show that children and families will enjoy as the Bill of Rights are introduced to the next generation of Americans.

George Washington – As President of the United States, George is a dynamic leader with a big heart. He has a distinguished demeanor but is also theatrically playful. Age range - 30s and older.
Tobias – George’s trusted advisor and cook. This role may double as a chorus role. Age range - 30s and older.
Captain Henry Latch – A gnarly and weather-worn pirate captain from England. Latch is an ambitious mercenary but also a big-hearted father to his 2 daughters, Nell and Sally. Cockney accent. Age range - 30s and older.
Sally Latch – Henry Latch’s oldest daughter. An experienced first mate. She is tough and tender. Tap dance ability a plus for this role. Cockney accent. Age range – 20s-30s
Nell Latch - Henry Latch’s youngest daughter. Nell is innocent, sweet, and youthfully energetic. Cockney accent. Age range - 15yrs-20s
Red, White and Blue Jay – a close friend of George Washington. A bold, proud, visionary leader ready to serve where needed. Age range 20s-40s
Two-Headed, Three-Toad Tree Toad – 2 actors/actresses in the same costume connected together “sack race” style. Must be similar in height and willing to learn innovative choreography and stage movement. Actors/actresses will speak and sing in harmony. Tree Toad is adventurous, curious and playful. Age range – 16yrs to 25yrs
Flaming Red Flamingo – Beautiful, energetic, and loving flamingo with a strong, care-givers heart. Age range 20s-30s.
Albino Rhino – Rhino is an albino rhinoceros who is a strong and willful character who also expresses a playful, laid-back demeanor. Age range 20s-50s
Sidney, the Mallard Duck-Billed Platypus – A showman’s showman. Sidney is energetic, theatrical and is always ready to pitch the next big show. Sidney loves a grand entrance and a grateful audience. Australian character accent. Age range – 20s-30s
We The People - Chorus – Patriotic character actors using creative dramatics to help create settings and locations. Strong singer/actors who move well. Age range 16 and up
