About the project: She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge as she processes her grief. Additional info: Performances: March 14, 15 & 16 at 7:30 pm March 16 & 17 at 2:00 pm Please prepare a 60 to 90 second monologue. The director has requested a comedic type monologue. Following your monologue you will be asked to cold read from the script. You may be asked to wait so you can read with others who are auditioning. This show has stage fighting, especially sword, but others could be included. There will be puppets as well. If you have experience in any of these fields, please come prepared to show those off. A mysterious female presenting voice (think Galadriel at the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring). Brings the audience into the story and serves as the avenue for most May also double as Farrah the Faerie.
A dorky, bullied, sharp witted teen with a knack for storytelling and a spirit for the kind of adventure that would take her away from the dull, dusty responsibilities of the real world. Through her D&d notebook she reveals deep truths about her life to her sister Agnes as Tillius the Paladin after her death.
Tily’s nerdily-uninformed older sister. A highschool teacher who gets tossed to the winds of Nerd-dom in an effort to connect with her late sister through the pages of her D&D notebook. She is sassy and brash at times but well meaning and has a genuine passion to right the wrongs of her past while working through her grief.
An awkward, nerdy, wanna be grunge rocker, comic book store employee and highschool senior with a self depreciating sense of humor. When presented with Tillius’s D&D module, he takes on the task of guiding Agnes through Tilly’s world.
Agnes’s boyfriend, as average as Agnes. He is hot headed but well meaning, with major commitment issues
Guidance Counselor, Agnes’s friend at the high school, sarcastic and saucy, definitely had an emo phase.
Glasses donning, shy, student assistant in real life, in Tilly’s adventure she is Lillith the Demon Queen kicker of butts and taker of names, the teams tank. Brash and blunt to a fault.
A highschool junior with cerebral palsy, Kelly is quiet and unassuming. Her D&D persona Kaliope the Dark Elf, is a wise and agile spellcaster.
Orcus Overlord of the Underworld, Big Bad Evil Guy ™ turned lazy demon that has given up defending his treasure in favor of watching TV and snacking on Easy Cheese. In real life, Ronnie is Kelly’s kind older Brother.
Dungeons & Dragons character, a hilariously super nerdy spell caster, who’s purpose throughout the show is to show you just how strong and dangerous the BBEG ™ is by dying to them over and over again in a running gag.
Fairy that lives in a forest, kind of a jerk; May double as the narrator.
