Upcoming Musical Titled "Disaster" Needs Talent

Georgetown, TX, United States
ID: 252647Exp: 12/11/2023
Description:

In search of performers and singers for the "Disaster" show. See more details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: It’s 1979, and New York’s hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. Also attending is a faded disco star, a sexy nightclub singer with her eleven-year-old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a secret, a pair of young guys who are looking for ladies, an untrustworthy businessman and a nun with a gambling addiction. What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, such as earthquakes, tidal waves and infernos. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love that they’ve lost… or at least escape the killer rats. Rate: All actors offered a role in the show will be paid a stipend. Additional info: Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Monday, January 29, 2024. The production is scheduled to open on Friday, March 22, 2024 and close on Sunday, April 21, 2024. This show’s ASL performance is scheduled for March 30, 2024. Initial vocal auditions will begin at 6 PM on Sunday, December 10, on the Springer Stage. This initial audition should consist of no more than one-minute of a song of your choice, ideally in the style of the show, that highlights your range and abilities. Disaster’s score is a collection of 1970s classic pop and disco songs, most of which are presented in a “tongue-in-cheek” style. Please factor that into your song choice as you prepare your audition. Singing something from the show is completely acceptable if you so choose. An accompanist will be provided, and directors will also be able to connect pre-recorded music if you bring that with you. Please, NO a cappella audition songs. If using pre-recorded music, please make sure to have the exact cut you will be using cued up prior to entering the audition room and it shouldn’t include vocals. If using sheet music, please make sure it is in the correct key, with any cuts clearly marked for the accompanist. The dance audition on Monday, December 11 will be from 7:00 PM- 10:00 PM on the Springer Stage. Please come in comfortable clothes (preferably not jeans) and appropriate shoes – Jazz or Character Shoes are preferred but tennis shoes are acceptable as well. The dance audition will consist of a choreographed combo. All roles will participate in some capacity during musical numbers, so all auditioners are required to attend. Callbacks will take place on Tuesday, December 12 by invitation only from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Please apply, if you're interested.
