Tertiary character. Jackson’s high school football coach. He looks intimidating but is actually really nice, and does not put a lot of pressure on his team.

Jackson HallMale18-22 y.o.All ethnicities

(can play age 18). Primary character. Boyfriend to Parker and “boyfriend” to Lydia. Struggling to come to terms with coming out, worried that his father won’t accept him. His main hobby is football, he loves it. He’s the “star” quarterback. He puts a lot of pressure on himself to be great and to uphold a standard of greatness. Deep down, he’s jealous of how easily Parker makes decisions and decides things without thinking about how it will possibly affect others.

Lydia RogersFemale18-20 y.o.All ethnicities

(who can play age 17). Secondary character. Head cheerleader. “Girlfriend” to Jackson. She has a big reputation and she knows she does, but she doesn’t care. She also does not take life too seriously, despite her parents thinking otherwise. She lives how she wants to and her mantra is “Who cares?” She wants to implant this same thinking in Jackson. It’s just high school, after all. She has her whole life ahead of her to do whatever she wants.

Mike HallMale35-49 y.o.All ethnicities

Tertiary character. Jackson’s father. Paula’s husband. Loves his son but is not a very emotional guy, he doesn’t speak to Jackson much at all, and if he does it is mainly about football. Mike does not realize the toll this takes on Jackson.

Parker MatthewsMale18-22 y.o.All ethnicities

(can play age 18). Secondary character. Boyfriend to Jackson. He is out and proud about it. He played football but quit because he no longer had any passion for the sport and it wasn’t fun anymore. Parker has no trouble at all being himself and doing only what makes him happy. He doesn’t put too much pressure on himself, but he wants to be authentic. He wants the same for Jackson and pushes him to come out.

Paula HallFemale35-49 y.o.All ethnicities

Tertiary character. Jackson’s mother. Mike’s wife. Loves her son unconditionally and has never made him feel otherwise. Although Paula does not speak in this role, the actress portraying her needs to be capable of exuding kindness and love in every scene she is in.
