About the project: Unravel follows Kai's powerful journey of self-discovery amid abuse and rejection. Battling against a father who refuses to accept their gender identity, Kai finds solace in therapy, gradually breaking free from the chains of a tumultuous past. As Kai confronts the pain endured, the therapist becomes a crucial ally, reinforcing the idea that everyone is deserving of love. The film climaxes with Kai's courageous departure, symbolizing a triumphant step toward self-acceptance and independence. Unravel is a poignant exploration of resilience and the transformative journey towards embracing one's authentic self. Rate: Non-union. Unpaid, lunch and snacks will be provided for actors as well as credit and video clips will also be provided. Additional information: SHOOT/PERFORMANCE DATE(S): January 6, January 14th. This short film has contents of abuse and neglect. The director highly advises those who do apply for a role, to please review and see if you are in the right mental space to play these roles. This short film requires full commitment and the actors to put themselves in the character's shoes which is hard to ask for but the director will work with you to get a better sense of who the character is. As Kai seeks self-acceptance, Dad's oppressive behaviour becomes a catalyst for Kai's journey toward liberation and the pursuit of unconditional love elsewhere.
