About the project: Nightmare at The Hot Mess Hair Salon is a zany murder-mystery comedy written and directed by Courtney Wick that takes you on a nostalgic jaunt through early 2000’s pop-culture. Laughter abounds as we meet the animated hair and tanning salon owner, Paris Guilton. Paris and a wacky cast of early 2000’s characters become trapped inside the building during a Minnesota snow storm. Nobody can chillax, peeps are murdered, the lewks are on fleek, and the audience is SHOOK. Help Paris Guilton solve these heinous crimes before there’s nobody left in her Myspace Top 8. (male presenting LEAD) Mysterious Reverend Harry Pooter is fresh off his plane from England and comes to the hair salon asking for help. He has a scar on his head and gets headaches. He also does magic tricks. Must be able to do a British accent. 2000’s influence: Literally Harry Potter but a Reverend.
(male presenting ROLE TYPE: FEATURE) He’s a Boy Band wannabee who has a tendency to sing a run. He speaks mostly in boy-band lyrics from the early 2000’s. Justin doesn’t want anyone to find out about his year-long secret relationship with Paris Guilton. No accent. Must be able to sing, or at least pretend to. 2000’s influence: All boy band members, shiny coats, full denim outfits, bleach blonde tips, etc.
(female presenting ROLE TYPE: FEATURE) Amber works at the Hollister across the street at the mall. She has a small dog with her named Fitch. She is a classic Catholic High School mean girl with an eye for religious men. She’s sexual and flirtatious. Needs to sound “bubble gum teen mean”, and if you can do that with a Minnesota accent, even better. 2000’s influence: Regina George from Mean Girls, Cher from Clueless, Cruel Intentions etc.
(female presenting -corpse ROLE TYPE: LEAD) Worst employee at the “That’s HOT Tan” tanning salon next door. Brangelina seems dumb, but there’s more to her than meets the eye. Must be able to do a vocal fry. No accent. 2000’s influence: Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, etc.
(female presenting ROLE TYPE: LEAD) Emo girl who works in the hair salon. Raven speaks in mostly cringe emo phrases from the Myspace meme days. She is infatuated with Jake Brolo. Is her darkness all angst, or is there something darker lurking beneath those sideswept bangs? No accent. 2000’s influence: Avril Lavigne, My Chemical Romance, Wednesday Adams, Hot Topic.
(female presenting - corpse ROLE TYPE: LEAD) A happy and god-fearing Minnesota Mom, and one of Paris Guilton’s best friends and clients. Seems to be crushing on the local butch lesbian, Charley O’ Pommel. 2000’s influence: Receives the classic “Can I speak to your manager” haircut at play open from Paris. Strong Minnesota accent and very sweet. Popcorn top, chunky necklaces, shiny shirts, big weird belts.
(male presenting ROLE TYPE: FEATURE) Jake is the president of the Omega Omega Omega Frat at the local University and also their star quarterback. He is VERY into Amber Cromby but his love is unrequited, local, Minnesota accent. He works part time at Hollister. 2000’s influence: Jake Brolo is wearing so many layered polos it’s hilarious, and they ALL POPPED, Sperry shoes, Bro college gear. Meathead early 2000’s fat movie guys.

Seems flirtatious with Karen Clinique… 2000’s influence: Rosie O’Donnel and butch cool lesbians that weren’t depicted much in the early 2000’s.

FBI AGENT RODRIGUEZ, FBI AGENT TRAMP STAMP, FBI AGENT UGGS (FEATURES)/ DOUBLE AS DR. DREW CARRYMORE, DJ JUSTIN SOPRANO, AND JAKE BROLO. These are standard issue over-the-top FBI Agents except that Agent Rodriguez is in love with PARIS GUILTON and FBI AGENT UGGS AND FBI AGENT TRAMP STAMP are loveable hype guys.
MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL (SUPPORTING)/ DOUBLE AS AMBER CROMBY Must be able to act quirky, artistic, and ethereal like all manic pixie dream girls. 2000’s influence: Sam in Garden State, Clementine in Eternal Sunshine, or Courtney Wick on any given day.
