About the project: She Stoops to Conquer is set at the Hardcastle Ranch, as two young suitors come to woo the daughters of the family. Mr Hardcastle is an old fashioned man with old fashioned ideals who simply wants his daughter well taken care of. Marlow has come hoping to win Kate’s hand but he isn’t sure he can manage it - he nearly faints at the sight of high society women. Kate must come up with a ploy to trick him into being comfortable around her. Meanwhile, Hastings and Constance have had a secret engagement for years and are hoping this may finally be their chance to run away together. Scheming Mrs. Hardcastle has been hoping to marry cousin Constance to her brutish, dolt of a son, Tony Lumpkin, so that Constance’s inheritance will revert to her, but luckily for Constance, Tony only cares about drinking beer, gambling with the Farm Hands and causing mischief. Accompanied by live music from Tony’s quartet of mischief makers, our Stoops is leaping forward in time to a California Gold Rush era setting. Additional info: Rehearsals will begin February 26th, rehearsals will not be held on Wednesday evenings or weekends and there will be no rehearsal over the Easter/Spring break in March.
