He leads the investigation with confidence, panache, method, order, and his little grey cells. The local doctor and the narrator of the story. A confidante and helpmate to everyone in the village of King’s Abbot. A friend of the murder victim, Sheppard also attempts to befriend the Detective, in hopes of becoming the Doctor Watson to the Detective’s Sherlock. "THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD"
