10 roles
The company’s stage manager who just wants the show to go right.
Needed to help with pivotal scene changes and to clean up the occasional mess.
The company’s lighting and sound operator. He doesn’t really want to be there, doesn’t really like actors, but loves Duran Duran.
The head of the drama society , directed the play and plays Inspector Carter. He is rigid and uptight. The experience of performing the show is both nerve-wracking and exciting. His pain is evident and every time someone laughs, the pain deepens.
Plays Charles Haversham. He’s been cast as the corpse but has trouble playing dead. The role of Charles Haversham is a very physically demanding role and must be comfortable with performing on a high platform with no railings.
Plays Thomas Colleymore. He’s not necessarily a bad actor, he’s just unaware of others around him. He does not feel bad when things go wrong and never learns from his mistakes.
Plays Perkins, who has no real desire to be involved in the theatre; he just wants friends. He believes if he does well in the show, he’ll be more successful socially. He’s slightly oblivious, but understands when he gets things wrong.
Plays Cecil Haversham/Arthur. Childlike and naïve. His mistakes are fundamental. He really hasn’t been on stage before and laughter makes him break the fourth wall.
Plays Florence Colleymore. She is vain and has a huge ego. Very physical role. Must be ok with being enclosed in a box for up to 5 minutes.
