The Musical "Working" In Need Of Performers
Cast needed for "Working" the musical. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the details below. About the project: Based on Studs Terkel's best-selling book of interviews with American workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the workers that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, and the housewife, just to name a few. Nominated for six Tony Awards in 1978, this classic has been updated for a modern age, featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor, Micki Grant, and more. Additional info: No Equity contracts are available for this show. Invited callbacks, if necessary, may be scheduled. Rehearsals will begin the week of January 7, 2024. The show runs from February 23 - March 3, 2024. The show contains mature themes and language. Please be familiar with the material before auditioning. Those auditioning should: Plan to attend only one day of auditions. Be familiar with the show and its music, language, and themes. Prepare two one-minute, contrasting songs (one up-tempo, one ballad) in the style of the show (contemporary musical theater). Bring sheet music in the correct keys, hole-punched in a three-ring binder. Singers will not be permitted to sing a cappella. Featured Roles exist for actors who do not consider themselves singers, however, all cast members will sing in ensemble numbers and all performers should be comfortable with that. If you wish to be considered for non-featured singing roles, you may prepare one short (1 minute) song of your choosing and plan to read from the script at auditions. Bring a list of conflicts between January 2 - March 3, 2024. If you are interested, please apply.
