The prosperous Birling family has gathered in the drawing room to celebrate the engagement of their daughter Sheila to Gerald Croft, heir to the most successful family business in the North of England. Their celebration is interrupted when Edna, the maid, announces the unexpected arrival of a policeman, Inspector Goole. The Inspector is investigating the suicide of a young woman. As the Inspector’s questions unravel the mystery, secrets are revealed and each member of the family is linked to the tragedy. After the inspector’s departure, a few twists have everyone wondering what, if anything, really happened. Additional info: Ages listed reflect how the character should appear onstage, not necessarily the age of the actor. The play is set in the North of England. Accents are not what the play is about but a standard, educated, upper class English accent should be evident. Some attempt at accent should be made at the audition. - On scheduled day/time, please bring headshot & theatrical resume. - Review the rehearsal schedule (below) and provide all conflicts. - Sides will be provided at the audition.
