Actors Required for "Love, Sex and the I.R.S." Play
A theatre play titled "Love, Sex and the I.R.S." is looking for performers. Please review the details provided below for more information. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The classic farce that everyone should be doing – especially around tax time! Jon Trachtman and Leslie Arthur are out-of-work musicians who room together in New York City. To save money, Jon has been filing tax returns listing the pair as married. The day of reckoning comes when the Internal Revenue Service informs the “couple” they’re going to be investigated. Leslie masquerades as a housewife, aided by Jon’s fiancée, Kate. Complicating matters further, Leslie and Kate are having an affair behind Jon’s back, Jon’s mother drops in unexpectedly to meet her son’s fiancée, and Leslie’s ex-girlfriend shows up demanding to know why Leslie has changed and won’t see her anymore. Like a cross between I Love Lucy and Some Like it Hot. Additional info: Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. Please bring a copy of your acting resume and a current photograph that directors may keep. Director’s Note: Please be aware that this production is a farce. The humor lies in presenting crazy, unexpected, and seemingly absurd situations to the audience. I am looking for actors with great comedic timing who can keep up the fast pace of a farce. So please be familiar with the synopsis of the play, and the characters, and be ready to bring the funny! Show Dates: March 1-17, 2024; Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2 pm. Rehearsal Schedule: Read Thru: Sunday, December 17th at 6 pm; Rehearsals will begin after the holidays, Thursday, January 4th at 7 pm.
