Auditions for "She Loves Me" Theatre Play
Looking for male and female talent for the upcoming theatre play "She Loves Me". The details are provided below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: An intimate and touching show, featuring music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret). Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance. The Mikos Lazlos play Parfuemerie, on which it is based, has inspired many adaptations, including the beloved film You’ve Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Set in a 1930s European perfumery, we meet shop clerks Amalia and Georg, who, more often than not, don’t see eye to eye. After both respond to a “lonely hearts advertisement” in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves… and all the twists and turns along the way! She Loves Me showcases a small but strong ensemble cast playing a range of memorable characters of all ages – and each with their moment to shine. Additional info: The production is scheduled to open on Friday, February 2, 2024 and close on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Monday, December 4, 2023. Vocal auditions: This show uses classic/legit musical theater styling rather than pop music, so please factor that into your choice as you prepare your audition. Singing from the show is completely acceptable if you so choose, but we encourage you to use your initial audition to show us not only your talent, but also your creativity and personality. An accompanist will be provided, and we will also be able to connect pre-recorded music if you bring that with you instead. If you need to use pre-recorded music please make sure to have either the exact cut you will be using or have the music correctly cued up prior to entering the audition room. The dance audition: Please come in comfortable clothes (probably not jeans) and appropriate shoes – Jazz or Character Shoes are preferred but tennis shoes are acceptable as well. The dance audition will consist of a choreographed combo. All roles will participate in some capacity during musical numbers, so all auditioners are required to attend. Callbacks will take place on Tuesday, November 14 by invitation only. When signing up for an audition slot please note any conflicts during the rehearsal or performance dates. To be considered, please apply.
