“Calendar Girls” Stage Play Searching For Cast
Looking for actors for “Calendar Girls” play. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the breakdown below. About the project: "Calendar Girls follows six women, members of the staid Women’s Institute (W.I.) in rural Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales, England. After one of the friends loses her husband to leukemia, the group decides to raise money through unconventional means: producing a calendar that features its members in the BUFF! As the calendar becomes an international sensation, the women’s relationships are tested, and their personal lives transform as they imagine a less isolated future. It is based on the true story of eleven W.I. members who famously posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund in 1999." Additional info: What to expect: Theatre has adopted the standard that monologues are required for all auditions. They may be memorized or read. Audition Requirements: Contemporary or Contemporary/Comedic Monologue: 60 seconds max. (memorized or read). PLEASE COME to your appointment EARLY. The first Calendar Girls rehearsal will be a cast Meet & Greet on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 7 p.m. at a location TBA. At that time, a complete rehearsal schedule will be worked out in consultation with the cast. It will involve weekend rehearsals and allow time off for the Thanksgiving and year-end holidays. Performance Dates: January 12 – February 11, 2024. About Nudity: Characters will be required to appear as if nude on stage. The scenes will have coverage of all pertinent body parts with artfully arranged props concealing those parts. Those auditioning should be comfortable with the illusion of nudity. No person shall be nude or naked either on stage or in the calendar, and individual choices as to the degree of exposure will be respected. If you are interested, please apply.
