Actors Sought For Stage Play "Tomas and the Library Lady"
Actors needed for production of "Tomas and the Library Lady". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: "Tomas, the son of migrant farm workers, meets a librarian who introduces him to the wonderful world of books. The stories enrich the lives of Tomás’ family and instill a love of reading. This is the inspiring true story of Tomás Rivera, who grew up in a migrant worker family, befriended a librarian in Iowa, and learned to love books and the places they took him. Tomás went on to a successful career in academia and became the chancellor of the University of California, Riverside." Adapted from the well-loved book, this play can be readily understood by both English and Spanish speakers. Rate: Rehearsal stipend: $850. Performance Pay: $50/performance (2 performances per weekday, 1 performance on Sundays; 33 scheduled performances). Total Expected Performance Pay: $1,650 If performances are cancelled, actors will be paid 50% of the regular performance fee. Additional info: PREPARATION: Please prepare 2 brief contrasting monologues (no more than 3 minutes total), and 16 bars of a song to sing acapella. As this is a bi-lingual show (Spanish/English), materials that highlight the performers ability to speak both languages are preferred. Please provide a headshot and resumé upon arrival at audition.
