Anchik is headstrong, resourceful, and determined, but her defiance is driven by a strong sense of pride and a desire to protect her family's way of life. Throughout the film, Anchik undergoes a profound transformation as she grapples with the consequences of her choices and the weight of responsibility.
Supporting Lead Role. BYOTR is an old Sakha (Indigenous people of Siberia) man. He is the wise and aging patriarch of the native family. He carries the weight of the family's survival on his shoulders, with a deep love for Anchik and a commitment to preserving their traditions. Byotr is resilient but physically frail, struggling to provide for his family in the harsh Siberian conditions.
IVAN a tall pale Russian man with golden hair and blue eyes. He is a man of few words, carrying the weight of his past political actions and the uncertainty of his future. Despite he looks down on the local family, Ivan shows compassion and kindness, offering medicine and assistance when Byotr falls ill. His character represents the complexity of human connection and the blurred lines between cultural and political divides.
CHIEF is an overweight middle aged man with a serious look of importance and power. The Chief of the village is a stern and authoritarian figure. He embodies the power dynamics and external pressures that shape the family's fate. This character symbolizes the harsh realities of survival in the Siberian wilderness and the choices made in order to maintain his leadership position.
