Performers Sought for "Murder on the Orient Express" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking talent for "Murder on the Orient Express" play. Please, see the details below. About the project: “Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer—in case he or she decides to strike again” (Samuel French). Additional information: Actors will be asked to read selections from the script, which they will be provided with ahead of time. They are encouraged—but not required—to use the characters’ accents during their auditions. Auditions will take approximately fifteen minutes. Rehearsals will commence in January of 2024. They will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 PM and on Sundays from 1:00-3:00 PM. Will perform the play in mid March. Please, see the attached flyer. Belgian. The director of the company that operates the Orient Express. He is urbane, affable, and an old friend of Poirot’s.
English. A sensible young Englishwoman. She is carrying on a clandestine relationship with Colonel Arbuthnot.
American. The personal secretary of Samuel Ratchett. He has a nervous, uncertain disposition.
French. The Parisian conductor of the Orient Express. He is steadfast and capable.
Russian. An exiled aristocrat. She is proud, imperious, and acerbic.
Swedish. A devout missionary serving as Princess Dragomiroff’s assistant. She is prone to emotional outbursts.
Hungarian. A doctor who married into the aristocracy. She is intelligent and resourceful, and Poirot greatly admires her.
American. A brash Minnesotan who has been married four times. She possesses a healthy libido and a love of show tunes.
Scottish. A stalwart, passionate solider. He is carrying on a clandestine relationship with Mary Debenham.
American. A rude, aggressive, and thoroughly disagreeable import-exporter. He attempts to hire Poirot to investigate the threatening letters he has been receiving.
French. The waiter who serves Poirot in the dining room of the Tokatlian Hotel in Istanbul.
