She never saw herself as a star, but here she is! Maybe its hard to see yourself as a star when you have an everything-phobic mother breathing down your back. And an abusive drama teacher. And a coworker who insists on being a terf. But hey, God chose to make grapes and not wine, so, Birdie is certainly allowed to be a Trans Woman. And so, like, fine wine, Birdie will come out, literally she comes out, being the best of the best. But more importantly she'll be free to fly like all those birds in all those poems she read as a wee child. " Rate: $50/play. Additional info: Rehearsals Begin: October 2, 2023 Run/Shoot: October 6, 2023 – October 6, 2023 Please prepare a monologue which is under two minutes. Be prepared for cold reads from the script. The narrator of the play who is also a representation of Birdie in all her prideful glamor and confidence; Trans femme; As close to birdie’s character as possible but not exact;
Birdie’s tomboy cousin who recently reconnected with birdien and is supportive of Birdie; Bisexual;
Birdie’s mother who is very against Birdie’s identity, fearing the loss of her “son”. She cares for birdie but doesn’t support her identity as Birdie.
Birdie’s younger, obnoxious brother. Very ignorant and transphobic/homophobic.
Birdie’s other younger, obnoxious brother. Very ignorant and transphobic/homophobic.
Mother’s Dearest’s guest. A classy looking woman who is unaware of Mother dearest trying to earn her approval.
