Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers for "Social Security" play. Please, see the details below. About the project: "Social Security" focuses on trendy Manhattan art gallery owners Barbara and David Kahn, whose life is upended when her Mineola housewife sister Trudy deposits their eccentric mother Sophie on the couple’s doorstep while she and her husband Martin head to Buffalo to rescue their sexually precocious college student daughter from a menage a trois with two men. Barbara and David introduce Sophie to suave nonagenarian artist Maurice Koenig, who offers to paint her portrait and soon begins to brighten her life in ways she never expected in her twilight years. Additional information: Callbacks (if needed) will also be held in person, Monday, October 16 – 7 to 9pm. Rehearsals will generally be Tuesday and Thursday (evenings) and Sunday (afternoons) but are flexible depending on actor availability. All actors must be available for Tech Week (January 7-10), the preview performance (Thursday, January 11) and all 14 performances (January 12-13, January 17-21, January 25-28 and February 1-3). Sunday matinees (2 of them) are at 2pm, the remainder at 8pm. PREPARATION: No prepared monologue is required. Auditions will be in groups so you can read from the script against other characters. Possibly 20-30 minutes per group. If you would like to audition for multiple roles, please advise when booking your audition. Actors are encouraged to READ THE PLAY (a copy will be available upon request). If you're interested, please apply.
