Sikh Punjabi. American Born Confu...well, you know the rest. Karandeep grew up idolizing his father (Gurbaksh), who was his direct line of connection to the Sikh religion and Punjabi culture. When Karandeep witnesses Gurbaksh's murder, it changes him forever. His introverted childlike innocence, once protected by his father, is lost forever, and comes of age as an angsty extroverted teenager.
Sikh Punjab. Must be fluent in Punjabi, have long hair, beard, and wear a turban. From Chandigarh, Punjab. Immigrated to New Jersey with his wife (Teji) after their marriage in 1984. Looking to escape the unrest in India, he's excited to start a family and future in a new country. Gurbaksh believes in the concept of the American Dream, but so long as it helps retain his religion/culture. That is paramount to him knowing how his people are being persecuted back home.

Despite the struggles the couple faced, Teji was always the rock who maintained the family's faith and was instrumental in creating a space for others who looked like them in the late 80s and early 90s.

Struggling mechanic who's never left New Jersey or held down a job for too long. It's caused him to become estranged with his wife who recently gave birth to their son. The events of 9/11 leave him extremely distraught, and his bigotry blames all perceived to be an enemy; in this case, Gurbaksh, who he targets discriminately, and murders.
