6 roles

Joe ClayMale20-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Joe is in public relations and begins as a “social drinker” who uses alcohol as a crutch to be flirtatious and to open the door to “magic time.” He is handsome and fairly successful. He introduces Kirsten to alcohol to “loosen her up” and so that she won’t be upset with his drunkenness by being drunk as well. They love each other, but drinking is what bonds them. The two end up on a bleak road where one cannot stay sober while living with the other. Charismatic and well-meaning but manipulative

Kirsten Arnesen ClayFemale20-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Kirsten begins as a teetotaler. She’s a good-hearted, smart, bubbly, bright-eyed woman – with a touch of naivety. Kirsten ends up turning into a bored housewife, evocative of the 1960s, with a cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other. She descends into the depths of alcoholism.
