Seeking Performers for “Better Living” Play

About the project: After a 10-year absence, Nora’s violent and disturbed husband, Tom, returns to their dilapidated family home, with a plan to bring structure, and create a “cooperative consumer republic”. This dark comedy has been described as a “fun house mirror version of Chekhov’s The Three Sisters”. Being first produced in 1986, this play may have been ahead of its time, seeming more relevant today than ever, as it deals with themes of domestic violence, PTSD, substance abuse, conspiracy theories, charismatic self-appointed dictators, and the global imbalance of wealth. Rate: This is a non-union, non-paying production. Additional information: Callbacks: October 24 or 25 – to be held in person. Rehearsals: Commencing Sunday, November 12, 2023, (3 times/week). Performances: January 19 to February 3, 2024. Evenings, 8 pm: Wed, Thurs, Friday & Saturday/Matinees, 2 pm: Sundays only. Actors should prepare a comedic monologue, the darker the comedy the better (no more than 3 minutes). Submission Deadline is Monday, October 2, 2023.
