A hoodie-donning teenager who, no matter how much she rejects societal norms, is still pulled into the world of Persian matriarchal obligations and has become very learned in the art of threading, cooking and co-existing amongst women, while staking out her own quiet rebellion.

After the trials of being a refugee in the 90's with three kids, Layla has no interest in being involved in sisterly drama, yet always manages to get dragged in. Tarsi speaking an asset.
