Professional Casting Call for "The Enchanted Bookshop" Play

About the project: Synopsis: An ordinary used book shop by day, A Likely Story becomes a magical place each night. Thanks to a spell from the Book Fairy, the characters inside the books come alive each and every night. Six of those characters, Dorothy Gale, Robin Hood, Pollyanna, Sherlock Holmes, Heidi, and Tom Sawyer long to help Margie, the scatterbrained owner, save her struggling store, but they’re not allowed to leave the building or be seen by human eyes. So, when a pair of bungling smugglers come looking for a stolen necklace hidden inside one of the books, the characters are torn. Should they warn Margie, risk disappearing forever? Or can they find a way to defeat the crooks without being seen? Additional information: Performance Dates: December 1 (evening), 2 (m), 3 (m); December 5, 7 (evenings); December 8 (evening), 9 (m), 10 (m); December 5 and 7 (matinees for school groups). Owner of the Enchanted Bookshop, she is creative, optimistic, but a bit scattered. Great at the creative side of running a bookstore, not so good at the business end. The type of person who always has her nose and mind in a book.
Bored bookshop customer.
Mysterious bookshop customer who is responsible for hiding the jewels.
Bewildered and confused police officer who Is very excited about his / her latest assignment … finding and arresting a gang of jewel thieves.
A jewel smuggler and habitual criminal. Exceptionally stupid, easily fooled and lacking any hit of social graces, Fingers, and pal Eddie, try to steal a book they believe to contain a precious treasure. Instead they are outsmarted by characters who emerge from said book.
The BOSS jewel smuggler who leads Fingers in trying to find the hidden jewels.
Brings the book characters to life. She is overbearing and a rule follower who always has something to say to the book characters about proper behaviour.
Larger-than-life heroic outlaw of literary fame, known for the credo of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. A master of archery, and very clever at disguises. Beneath the bravado, a good and generous person at heart.
Famed detective of books, stories, movies, TV and radio. Genius intelligence, a bit snooty, British accent. Able to notice seemingly mundane details that no one else would find relevant, in solving the most unsolvable cases.
English pickpocket who is very sneaky. He annoys the book characters.
Bold, brash and clever pirate of literary lore. Crafty and disloyal, shifting sides so frequently that we cannot be sure of his true affiliations. Despite missing a leg, he is very agile and elusive.
English veterinarian; talks to animals.
Ruler of Wonderland; a hothead.
Monster; grunts a lot.
