About the p[project: The hills are alive with this musical theatre classic for the whole family! Based on the inspirational memoir of Maria Von Trapp, The Sound of Music tells the heartwarming story of an exuberant young governess who brings music and joy back to a broken family, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power. Featuring some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “Edelweiss”, “My Favorite Things” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, this enchanting and timeless musical is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Additional info: -You can find the form and other details in the attachments. -Rehearsal Dates: Beginning the week of July 17. -Performance Dates: September 8-24, 2023 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). -The initial audition will be primarily vocal. Though some characters are listed as non-singing, all adults are required to sing at auditions as they will be participating in ensemble numbers. • There will be no dance call for this production as the movement requirements for The Sound of Music for adults are somewhat basic. • Depending on time, adults may be asked to stay for readings from the script. ● Vocal Audition: Come prepared with your best 16-32 bars or a verse/chorus of a classic musical theatre song or song from the show. Bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. A Bluetooth speaker will also be provided for auditioners who wish to sing to a performance track. Track must be cued and ready to go. ● Callbacks: Performers may be called back for specific roles and to sing/read from the score/script. Exact callbacks guidelines will be given before the callback. ● Rehearsal conflicts must be noted on the audition form. Rehearsals will begin the week of July 17. ● Resumes and head-shots are welcomed but not required. ● Auditionees should arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled audition time to complete audition forms or fill out and bring the audition form located on our website. ● Auditionees should plan on staying for the entirety of the audition or until dismissed by the director.
