Tech Rehearsals Start: Saturday, March 16, 2024. Dress Rehearsal: Wednesday, March 20, 2024. First Preview: Thursday, March 21, 2024. Opening: Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Closing: Sunday, April 21, 2024. Submission Deadline: June 5, 2023 at 12:00 PM. When applying, please submit a head-shot and resume as ONE PDF FILE. Black male, American, a transcendent actor. Confident, brave, passionate, impatient, and dignified. A preference will be given to classically trained actors with experience performing Shakespearean. Actor must have the ability to portray the character as both a 60 year old man with failing mental and physical health, and a virile 26 year old at the height of his powers as a world class stage actor.
French, manager of the theatre. Revolutionary, ambitious, passionate, loyal, courageous and conflicted. Actor must have the ability to do a credible "French (European) accent."
(one actor to play both roles) Casimir: German-speaking Polish stage-hand. Inexperienced, low status and likes Halina. Henry Forester: English actor. Political, intelligent, self-interested, ambitious and earnest. Actor must have the ability to speak German and to perform a credible "British accent."
(one actor to play both roles) Terence: English, Ira Aldridge’s valet and dresser. Loyal, hard working. Bernard Warde: English, actor. Old school, a bit lazy, opinionated and insecure. Actor must have the ability to perform a credible "British accent."
Jamaican female, experienced, observant, wise, courageous and honest. Actor must have the ability to perform a credible Jamaican/West Indian accent.
