About the project: Somewhere deep beneath the booze, hookers, and arms dealers of the underworld, lies the rumor of an assassin. So talented in his craft, that no one has seen him operate and lived to tell the tale. No one truly knows who he is, what he looks like, or where he comes from, but they do know one thing: he goes by the name, The Professor. In the underbelly of a dark and dangerous world, Leon, a lowlife criminal, is about to find out how dangerous it really is to be hunted by a true predator. In Mama's Bar, where shady business is conducted under all the tables, Leon will look for protection and a safe haven, but when he tells the chain of events that led him there to Mama, it will put everyone on alert for the predator that is being let loose. (BIPOC, female-identifying): Moral ambiguity is her middle name. Mama plays for no one’s and everyone’s side mainly for her own interests. She owns and operates a quasi jazz club/brothel that moonlights as an underground weapons dealership. Mama lives by her own will to survive; a will that thrusts her down a path of betrayal and deception. Will the wicked endure the same fate as the blessed?
(Male-identifying): A man of the word and the sword. The Professor, a man who never gives away his real name, is rumored to be the most efficient and dangerous assassin. After word gets out that someone is working behind his boss, William’s back, he is called upon to deliver a swift and violent message.
(male- or female-identifying): If you need someone to do your dirty work, s/he is your guy. S/he is a seasoned criminal who’s always ready to get his/her hands dirty. Born and bred in the underbelly of the city, s/he sees everything as an opportunity to make a quick buck – moral ambiguity and lawfulness, be damned. Will s/he survive the hunter’s grip or will it be his/her ETERNAL PARTING?
(BIPOC, male-identifying): Eric’s loyalty to Mama is unwavering. Forged through the benevolence of Mama, having rescued him from homelessness, she offered him a sense of purpose and belonging. However, his true loyalty to her will be put to the test, as the dangerous and unpredictable nature of their world threatens to shatter the trust they’ve built. Eric’s strength and grit will be tested, as he faces the possibility of losing everything Mama has given him.
