As o goy woman, she has struggled to find belonging For her entire life. As o result, she has developed protective walls to protect herself From people. One exception was her first love, who she met in high school and never got over, even though they haven't spoken in 50 years.
LEAD. Delilah is a careful woman who has followed the rules for her entire life. She dutifully does what everyone expects her to, setting aside her own hopes and dreams along the way. This lifestyle keeps her in a stifling marriage for 50 years until her husband dies and she is suddenly free. Throughout the Alm, Delilah comes to realize what her marriage caused her to give up: her own identity and willpower.
