The company is holding auditions for the "Romeo & Juliet" Play and looking for performers, please see the details below. About the project: It’s 1935 – and the Great Depression is upon us. In fair Verona, Mississippi, where we lay our scene, despair has deepened the generational hate between the Montague and Capulet families. But it’s Romeo and Juliet’s youthfulness and unbridled love for each other that provides the hope for a new beginning. Additional info: Performances: Sept. 8 – 17, 2023 Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Audition Requirements: At auditions, you will be asked to read from the sides provided. Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday 7:30-10:30 p.m.

Romeo’s father. A working-class landowner.
Weary and frail from the Depression (This actor will also portray the Apothecary: a witch doctor in the Bayou.)
Romeo’s cousin and confidant. Level-headed and a peacemaker.
Workers for Montague and friends to Romeo.
Quiet and shy yet possesses an inner strength.
Juliet’s father. A landowner. Big, brash and boisterous.
Juliet’s mother. A strong and stoic matriarch.
(Any ethnicity. /African American preferred) A big and long-winded personality. She is a valued and trusted nurse to Juliet. Should have comic timing.
Kinsman to the Capulets. A fiery hot head looking for trouble.
Tybalt’s companions.
Works for the Capulets’. Not the sharpest tool. Comedic ability a must.
Romeo’s friend. Energetic and witty but very mercurial. Actor must be physically agile and electric.
(Any ethnicity /African American preferred) A kindly minister in Verona.
A ‘good ol’ boy sheriff’ of Verona. He lays down the law with great authority but little effect.
A handsome, well-bred suitor who is pursuing Juliet’s hand in marriage via her parents.
