Open auditions for the 46th Season Musical Productions. Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: This round of in-person auditions will be for The View Upstairs, Young Frankenstein, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Rate: Paid. Additional info: Vocal call-backs will be Saturday, June 3 from 4:00 PM–6:00 PM and Sunday, June 4 from 1:00 PM–4:00 PM by invitation. Dance call-backs will be Sunday, June 4 from 4:00 PM–6:00 PM by invitation. AEA members are welcome to audition. Audition Materials: Please bring a recent headshot and resume. Please prepare a selection from the musical or something in a similar style. AN ACCOMPANIST WILL BE PROVIDED AND WILL HAVE THE MUSIC FOR THE SEASON. IF YOU ARE SINGING SOMETHING ELSE, PLEASE BRING THAT MUSIC FOR THE ACCOMPANIST. All roles are open to any ethnicity unless otherwise stated in the character descriptions. 20-something fashion designer from the current day. Selfconsciously hip, prematurely jaded, and perpetually anxious. Wes wears a fabulous facade, but deep-down harbors real insecurities and dissatisfaction with his life. Has never experienced real tragedy or love. "The View UpStairs"
Young, runaway hustler who projects innocence and fragility, but is a lot tougher than he appears. Patrick creates fantastic, imaginative stories to distract from the harsher realities of his life. Has the ability to see a vulnerability and sweetness in Wes. "The View UpStairs"
The resident piano player of the UpStairs Lounge. Charismatic, but also very temperamental and somewhat bitter. Loves the attention he commands within the community, but also resents being stuck in it. Dreams of one day being a big star but knows it will never happen. Closeted, with a wife. "The View UpStairs"
Holdover from another era of gay life with a more camp sensibility. Might know all the secrets of the universe, might be in the early stages of dementia. "The View UpStairs"
Tough as nails, no-nonsense, old-school butch. Henri is the bartender of the UpStairs Lounge and runs a tight ship. Although she comes across as a bit severe, she cares very deeply for the community within the bar. "The View UpStairs"
A construction worker by day, Freddy also doubles as the drag queen Aurora Whorealis by night. Big personality, energetic, and bright. A close friend to Willie and on good terms with everyone else in the bar. "The View UpStairs"
Freddy's mother and occasionally a mother to the other men in the UpStairs Lounge. Born in Puerto Rico, she moved her family to America when Freddy was still young. Lovable, warm, and supportive, Inez assists with her son's drag performances. As realtor, she is smarmy, fake, smiles too much, etc. "The View UpStairs"
Priest of the Metropolitan Community Church. Perhaps more conservative than other patrons in the bar, but level-headed and warm. "The View UpStairs"
Arsonist. Sensitive and more radical in his sexual politics. A raw nerve and someone who's experienced a good deal of hardship at society's hand. "The View UpStairs"
In the past the cop is a corrupt, homophobic, and violent. In the present, the cop is still stern, but has a sense of humor, and seems to be in service of justice. "The View UpStairs"

Rock Tenor (A2–G5) - Title role, leader of the twelve disciples, called the "Son of God" and the "King of the Jews." Jesus has a difficult time accepting his fate without answers on why he must die. This role requires an actor that can show Leadership, Confusion, Strength, Vulnerability and Optimism, often at the same time. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
Rock Tenor (D3–D5) - One of the twelve apostles of Jesus; concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus's fame. Judas believes in Jesus's teaching but has started to grow weary of those in power coming after him and his followers. The role requires an actor that can show Frustration, Yearning, Weakness, Dismay and Pessimism, often at the same time. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
Mezzo-Soprano, Beautiful Belter (F3–E♭5) - A female follower of Jesus who finds herself falling in love with him. The role requires an actress that can show Grace, Stability, Weakness and Compassion. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
Baritenor (A2–B4) - Governor of Judea who foresees the events of Jesus's crucifixion from beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented with that very situation. The role requires an actor that can show Authority, Rage, Fragility, and Fear. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
Low Bass / Rocky Top (C♯2–F4) - One of the main antagonists of the show. High priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation. He is in a man in power who fears losing that power to Jesus. This role requires an actor that can show Anger, Power, and Angst. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
High Baritone / Baritenor / Countertenor (G2–D5) - One of the main antagonists of the show. Fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat. Annas can seem more conniving than Caiaphas. This role requires an actor/actress that can show Disgust, Displeasure, and Loathing. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
High Baritone / Baritenor (A2–G4) - One of Jesus's twelve apostles; denies Jesus three times upon the night of Jesus's arrest to save himself. Peter is obsessed with impatience. This role requires an actor that can show Tenacity, Worry, Impatience, and Regret. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
High Tenor / Baritenor (G3–B4) - One of Jesus's twelve apostles; urges Jesus to lead his followers into battle against the Romans. Simon is under the belief that violence can solve all their problems. This role requires an actor that can show Energy, Youthfulness and Animosity. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
High Baritone (B2–G4) - The King of Galilee; Jesus is brought to him for judgment after first being taken to Pilate. Herod is a comedic role. He starts very nonchalantly and as his song progresses, he becomes more irritated when he doesn't get his way. "Jesus Christ Superstar"
