About the project: SYNOPSIS: Mensch tells the story of Jacob Greenberg, a 12 year-old, soon-to-be Bar Mitzvah boy being raised in Montreal's Anglophone, Ashkenazic Jewish community. The film follows Jacob as he navigates the responsibilities and pressures of growing up, the death of his beloved grandmother, and his impending Bar Mitzvah, an official religious ceremony and celebration that marks his transition into adulthood. Along the way, he turns to the trusted elders in his life for support and guidance. Rate: Minimum UDA rates. Additional information: Shoot: July - August. Location: Montreal. In charge of leading chants and prayer at the synagogue's services, and training Jacob for his upcoming Torah reading. He sees it as his duty to not only teach Jacob practical tools, but to demonstrate the ancient text's lessons and values, by living them.
