Transmasculine. Conservative small town mentality of his parents. Now awash in the big city and struggling to find his footing, he returns home for what he hopes will be a short and civil visit. He hasn't been in his parent's lives since he began transitioning, and is anxious about their reaction, and the reception by their community. He is quiet and reserved around them, until he feels safe to open up.

HenkMale45-60 y.o.White / Caucasian

Cis man. He is a blunt older Dutch farmer who lives and breathes farming, it being the only world he has ever known. He took on his father's farm when he retired, and takes great pride in his humble work. He is saddened by Shaun's disappearance from his life, as they had a close relationship when Shaun was growing up. He is fearful of losing the farm and desperately wants to reconnect with Shaun, though he doesn't know how to relate to him.

LiesFemale45-60 y.o.African-American Latino / Hispanic Other Asian Middle Eastern Native American Pacific Islander Indian/South Asian

Cis woman. RACIALIZED. She is a housewife who has always gone along with things as they are. She is rarely involved in the goings-on of the farm, and has carved out a life for herself as the town hairdresser. Her meager income does little to help the farm stay afloat, and she struggles to support Henk in the swirling spiral of his father's farm. She has tried to keep in touch with Shaun while he's been away and is supportive of his transition, though she can't understand it.
