"9 to 5" Musical Casting Performers
Auditions for its summer musical, "9 to 5". Seeking cast. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: 9 to 5, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s. This hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she? Additional info: 9 to 5 will run July 28 and 29 at 7:00pm and July 30 at 2:00pm. You only need to attend one night of auditions. Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song from either a musical or an upbeat pop song. An accompanist will be provided. Auditions will also consist of cold reads from the script as well a dance combo, so wear comfortable shoes you can move in. If necessary, callbacks will take place on Wednesday, May 31, at 6:00pm. Auditionees are encouraged to listen to the original cast recording for inspiration. Rehearsals will begin the week of June 12, and run Monday-Thursday evenings for approximately two to three hours per rehearsal. A complete schedule will be created following auditions and distributed at the first rehearsal.
