Cole is a big, brawny jock. Overly aggressive. Gay but not openly. Struggling with coming to terms with his sexuality and raised by a family that would likely never support it, he is perpetually frustrated. Overprotective of his little brother.
The boy next door. Average, unassuming. He is raised by a supporting family and is excited about his future following high school.
Dean is the coolest kid at Romano High – handsome, personable, and a heart of gold. The boys want to be his friend, the girls want to date him, the mothers of the kids want to sleep with him and Ms. Applewood fantasizes about him.
Linda faces immense trouble at home with an abusive and neglectful father, a young sister that she is raising on her own, and an unexpected pregnancy, which Ms. Applewood does her best to help her navigate through. She’s friends with Mark and seamlessly integrates with different social groups, despite her troubles.
The pretty teacher. In an unhappy marriage. Lusting after Dean, her student. She is physically attractive and all the students at Romano High love her.
The nerdy teacher. Grieving and depressed. Takes out his emotional pain on Dean, the kid he always wanted to be in high school.
