Toronto, ON, Canada
ID: 224144Exp: 3/29/2023
easy apply
Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Calling performers for production of "Willow Quartet". Please, see the details below. About the Play: In the aftermath of a tragedy that ends Kim and Ben’s marriage, Kim finds herself back in her childhood home, a quiet farm away from the city. Here, she invites Jim, a visiting musician, to stay with her in a bed-and-breakfast arrangement. It’s not long before Kim becomes infatuated with Jim’s sophistication and charm, and with his ability to make her forget her grief temporarily, until it inevitably boils to the surface. Pulled in several directions, she struggles to explore her buried feelings and unlock the joy she has sadly missed. Despite its background of difficult events, the play is full of gentle humour. Rate: This is a non-paying, non-union only production. Additional information: Rehearsals will generally be Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Tech and Dress Rehearsals will be held Sunday May 7 and Tuesday May 9. Given the tight schedule and small cast, attendance is mandatory at ALL rehearsals except in case of illness. No preparation is required. When applying, please send your resume.

4 roles

KimFemale43-47 y.o.All ethnicities

Has been deeply affected by the death of her 18-year-old son in a motorcycle accident three years ago. This death led directly to the death of her father and the apparent end of her marriage to Ben, and her mother worries that Kim's mental health is still fragile. Kim has come to live in the farmhouse where she grew up while she tries to figure out her future.

MarjorieFemale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

(Kim’s widowed mother) is a skeptic, a bit of a troublemaker but very protective of her daughter. She presently rents a condo in town but misses her old porch, especially in summer.

BenMale43-47 y.o.All ethnicities

Was Kim's husband who left the marriage a year or so after the death of their son. He is a mechanic, owns a garage in the city, but increasingly seems to find excuses to visit the farm. He still cares for Kim but carries his feelings and sadness under the surface.

JimMale18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Jim is a musician (first violinist in a string quartet) visiting the town as part of an arts festival. Rather than board in town, he chose to spend the two weeks in the country at Kim’s farmhouse. He is a warm, gregarious, creative middle-aged man with a complicated relationship history.
