"Brighton Beach Memoirs" Comedy Play Needs Actors

Staten Island, NY, United States
ID: 218962Exp: 3/3/2023
Description:

Seeking cast for play "Brighton Beach Memoirs". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: This coming-of-age comedy is set in Brighton Beach during The Great Depression in 1937 and walks us through the life of Eugene Morris Jerome; a Polish-Jewish American teenager. Dreaming of baseball and girls, Eugene must cope with the mundane existence of his family life in a crowded, lower middle-class Brooklyn walk-up. He narrates his days with a formidable mother, overworked father, a worldly older brother, plus his widowed Aunt and her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters. This bittersweet memoir significantly captures the life of a struggling Jewish household where “if you didn’t have a problem, you wouldn’t be living here”. Additional info: Please prepare a short comedic monologue and be familiar with the play. Memorization is not required. Actors will be asked to read over some sides as well. Callbacks: 2pm-4pm, March 4th. Performance dates: May 25th-28th, June 1st-3rd. ACTORS NEED TO CONVINCINGLY BE ABLE TO PORTRAY THE AGES OF THE CHARACTERS. To schedule an audition appointment, please apply.
