About the project: SYNOPSIS: Jack the Ripper has used H.G. Wells' Time Machine to disappear from 1893 into the future. Wells decides it's his responsibility to bring him back to London and justice. Jump forward to San Francisco in 1980, where Wells meets Amy, a bored bank teller, who becomes an ally in his quest. This is an unusual mixture of sci-fi, gore, romance and, yes, comedy. The story was made into a 1979 movie featuring Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen. Rate: This production is Non Paying/Non Equity. Additional information: REHEARSALS: Commence:Tuesday, March 28, 2023 7:30 pm – first read-through. Continue:Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm. Sundays: afternoons or evenings, depending on cast preference. PERFORMANCE DATES - 2023 June 2-3 Friday, Saturday – 8 pm; June 4 Sunday Matinée – 2 pm; June 8 - 10 Thursday, Friday, Saturday – 8 pm; June 11 Sunday Matinée – 2 pm; June 15-16 Thursday, Friday – 8 pm; June 17 Saturday Matinée – 2 pm; Please prepare a 1-2 minute dramatic monologue. You may also be asked to do a cold-read from the script, so it is best to familiarize yourself with the show. Please bring a copy of your resume and headshot to the audition. Callbacks will consist of scenes from the show, performed in groups. Directors ask that you be available for the full time period so they have a chance to experiment with different pairings/groupings of actors. If you are interested, please apply.
