David’s father, Richard, passed down the funeral home to David and set the prime example of what it meant to be a husband/father/funeral director. He wants to leave a legacy both with his family and his career much like his Father did for him.

Supporting. Funeral Director and embalmer alongside David at Smith Funeral Home. He is David’s better angel. He wants to help families and be a beacon of support to his community. He does not want to take for granted the effort his family did to get him them over to the States. Gabriel comes from a hardworking, poor family in the outskirts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He goes above and beyond helping his families even if it puts himself and the funeral home a step back.

Supporting. 4th generation Italian-American. Wife to David. Cousin to Lucca. A struggling traditional Italian mother. She wants to be the arch-type Italian mother whose life revolves around her kids and family. She does everything to ensure that decisions are based around her kids even if it puts tension between her and David.

Supporting. Brother (not triplets) to Phillip and Edward, and Owners of Hofmann Funeral Services. They have a longstanding funeral family of Indianapolis, IN who will do anything to ensure they own the pie of the funeral industry in Indianapolis, IN. They want to ensure their legacy will remain intact for their family’s work. They are happy to undercut and price out their competitors in the area.

Supporting. 4th generation Italian-American. Head of the Zabatino crime family in Detroit, MI. He wants to restore the Zabatino power in Michigan, and Midwest Region. His family has been shamed due to the imprisonment of his father and have lost their stature. Lucca uses David as a smuggler/money launder for his cash and drugs.

Supporting. Italian. To play 70s to early 80s. The matriarch of the Zabatino family and the grandmother everyone wishes they had.

Supporting. Italian. To play 70s to early 80s. The patriarch of the Zabatino family and one of the last family members to remember the old country. He carries the title with honor and humility.

Supporting. 4th generation Italian-American. Lucca’s right-hand man. He has a taste for the finer things in life and very little patience. He carries himself as if he has a chip on his shoulder.

Supporting. A rookie police officer just out of cadet school. Unfortunately, the wrong place at the wrong time.
