About the project: LOGLINE - Months after the patriarch's suicide, an intense argument takes place in the basement of the Bai family's black market after the eldest daughter beat up an uncle from her father's side, revealing the family's dysfunction and emotional turmoil that they all individually contribute to yet suffer from. Lead. Recent widow, emotionally unstable, matriarch of a criminal family who started and now runs the black market, has a tendency to flip flop from infantilizing to antagonizing her kids.
Lead. Eldest son, lost his father to suicide, sole recipient of his father's will, feels a responsibility and entitlement to be the next provider for the family.
Lead. Daughter, has a rebellious streak, the most distance with her mother and closest to the father, on a mission to find out a deeper cause to her father's death to "avenge" him, an alcoholic in the making since her father's death.
Supporting. Adopted daughter, personal assistant to Mom, knows the intricacies of the new family business, desperate to fit in, frequently on the receiving end of her Mom's anger, physical or emotional, due to her proximity to her mother.
Extra, male-presenting. Has to be lightly dragged into the scene, has special makeup for fight wounds, was beaten up by his niece Sawyer for trying to scam their family.
