Singing Audition for "Company" Play
Casting performers for the "Company" musical. More details provided below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: It's Bobby's birthday and the confirmed bachelor finds himself standing at a crossroads between single life and marriage. As he observes his group of married friends, he gets an intimate look at the chaotic, hilarious, and tender realities of modern partnership. Through honest conversation and warm interaction, these friendships serve as both a safety net and a mirror, challenging his views on love and commitment. Set to Sondheim's legendary score, Company is a funny, heartfelt exploration of what being alive really means. Additional info: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Those auditioning are asked to bring a prepared vocal selection of 16-32 bars from musical theatre. An accompanist will be provided, as well as a Bluetooth speaker for tracks. No a cappella selections, please. Dance will not be part of the audition process. There will be a simple observation of movement by the choreographer, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Alto. Harry's hypercritical wife. She is an avid karate student and tends to overeat. Open, accepting, and loving.
Baritone. Sarah's husband. He is a recovering alcoholic. Believes the advantages of marriage outweigh the disadvantages.
Mezzo. A delicate southern belle. Peter's wife and ex-wife. Motherly in her affections towards Robert.
Baritone. Susan's husband. The perfect husband and ex-husband. He is very liberal in his view of relationship.
Soprano. Simultaneously square and wise. Loves her husband, David, and will indulge him from time to time.
Tenor. Jenny's husband; relaxed and controlling. Believes a man should be married and that the sacrifice of freedom is worth what you get in return.
Alto. A frantic neurotic engaged to Paul but terrified of marriage. After a mental breakdown, she finally realizes that Paul is, in fact, her soulmate.
Tenor. Amy's fiancé. Patient with Amy’s neurotic nature. Fully commits to the idea of marriage and encourages Robert to do the same.
Alto. Acerbic and demanding. Too old to be part of the young crowd but would not fit well with the older crowd. Puts on a brassy front that melts when she is alone with her husband, Larry.
Tenor. Joanne's husband. Stoic and centered, but has moments of goofiness. Indulges his wife's behavior but knows when to put his foot down.
Mezzo. A girlfriend of Robert's. Intensely modern, seeking adventure and excitement in the City.
Mezzo. A girlfriend of Robert's. She wants to leave the City for a life of domesticity. Sweet and loving.
Mezzo. A girlfriend of Robert's. She is a flight attendant who came to New York to live in Radio City. Ditzy and adorable.
