About the project: Storyline: when an imaginative Amish girl turns 16 and departs on her rumspringa, she is finally allowed the freedom to explore the outside world. After eye-opening experiences, she must choose to either stay with her faith, get baptized, and settle for a traditional life, or leave and risk losing the close bond she has with her mother. TO PLAY 16 An awkward, highly imaginative Amish girl who loves to draw and often has her head in the clouds rather than down in reality. Believing she has nothing nice to say to the world, she chooses to take a vow of silence. She feels a deep longing to explore the world outside of her community but is held back by her relationship with her mother. LEAD - NONSPEAKING ROLE WITH VOICEOVER
An Amish mother of 8 children, 7 of them being boys. She bonds deeply with her only daughter, Miriam, as she navigates her youth. She regrets not exploring every option before settling for a traditional Amish life and often sneaks away from her family to watch DVDs in secret. SUPPORTING
TO PLAY YOUNGER The it girl of her small town. She ditches class to skateboard with her cool group of friends, often stopping by the amish storefronts in search of alcohol.
