Casting Female Presenting Actor for Upcoming Musical
Equity actor for a role in "Beautiful Jolie Gabor, Her Glamorous Three Daughters, and Always The Happiness is Life". See breakdown below. About the project: SUMMARY: Expansive and lush, Beautiful Jolie Gabor, Her Glamorous Three Daughters, and Always the Happiness is Life is a musical fantasy that traces the history of the first family who became famous for being famous. Examining society’s fascination with celebrity culture, Beautiful Jolie Gabor… centers on family matriarch Jolie Gabor, a Hungarian WWII immigrant who voraciously creates a life where persecution can never affect her family again. In the choices she makes and the not-so-truthful stories she spins, Jolie must answer the most telling question: What is the cost along the way? And, then, what is the cost at the end? Much like the real-life Gabor Family, five-time Tony Award nominee Michael John LaChiusa’s newest work, starring three-time Tony Award nominee Mary Testa as Jolie Gabor, absolutely mesmerizes. Rate: Off Broadway $948 weekly minimum (Tier 3) Additional info: Audition day break: 1:30PM - 2:30PM. PREPARATION: Please prepare a short song or cut of your choice that shows off your dramatic soprano sound, a legit tone in the musical theatre sense, not in the operatic sense. Female-presenting; Alongside Mary Testa as Jolie, four actors portray Jolie's three maids and butler who in turn throughout the show, become/transform into her three daughters (Magda, Zsa Zsa, and Eva) and two husbands (Vilmos and Edmund). Magda is the oldest daughter. Comfortable with her femininity. Soprano to high A, more of a “dramatic” soprano sound versus a coloratura sound. Legit but in the musical theatre sense, not necessarily operatic. Speaks with a Hungarian accent.
