Reynolds is an up and coming fashion designer in 1950s Boston. He is extremely obsessive about his work and expects nothing less than perfection from himself and those around him. He is beginning to reach success in his career and is considering moving out on his own soon.
Alma is the deeply caring mother of Reynolds. She was forced to raise him on her own in poverty. Despite his cruelty toward her, he remains her whole world, and she's scared of losing him.
