"The Waning" Horror Short Film Seeking Actors

About the project: "The Waning" is a spiritual horror short film about a first date, a careless prayer, and what happens when karma is taken away. Rate: Lead role (Vishakha): $400 flat. Supporting roles (Leela, Anya, Ila): $100 flat each. Additional info: Meals provided during filming. All actors must provide their own Bharatanatyam costume and full performance makeup; these will not be supplied by production. The dance sequence requires less than one minute of screen time. Location: Houston, TX. Date and Time: Filming planned for mid-November 2026. If interested, submit with the subject line THE WANING — [PREFERRED ROLE]. Confirmation that you have your own Bharatanatyam costume and performance makeup. Confirmation of comfort with a prop cigarette for Vishakha or a prop vape for Ila, as applicable. Lead. A Bharatanatyam dancer arriving at a first date straight from a temple performance, still wearing full costume and makeup. Sharp and detached, she indulges in escapism before becoming compassionate toward the end. Requires a long dialogue scene, subtle emotional shifts, and a sustained close-up. Must be comfortable handling a prop cigarette on camera. Films over two weekends, totaling four days.
Supporting. One of Vishakha's fellow dancers. Extroverted and scattered, she rushes to finish her makeup and lipstick shortly before performing. Small speaking role; one full filming day.
Supporting. One of Vishakha's fellow dancers. Warm, curious, and especially interested in Vishakha's love life. Small speaking role; one full filming day.
Supporting. One of Vishakha's fellow dancers. Dry, deadpan, and usually on her phone. One line of dialogue; one full filming day. Must be comfortable handling a prop vape on camera.
